Aim: To understand how the music can effect mood and our interpretation of the action on screen.
IQ - How does the music effect the viewers interpretation of what has happening on screen? How does music effect the mood of a scene?
Task - Your Director has asked you to compose the music for the following scene. Your group will be given a genre that you have to compose for by Mr Hoddinott.
Use the film footage and the Cuesheet that you looked at in previous lessons. What other tools could you use to help support your task? You will perform the music live in front of the screen.
Organise your group
Organise what instruments you need for your genre and who in your group will play them. 5mins Use your Cue-sheet to plan your composition. 10 minutes Put together your chord progression. Is it Major or Minor? Are you using concords or dischords? Use chord progression ideas from songwriting and try adding diminished/augmented chords. See the chord diagrams and video below. Experiment with putting your chord progressions together. Add your melody. Are you using a Leitmotif? Review your work can you improve it. Is it effective?

You are given a film to write music for. The film you have given is silent. You have to bring it to life. You have to give it some action. You have to use a cue-sheet to describe where the action is. In each section write down what music you would use in each section.
